Congratulations to Aaina Women’s Group for achieving Green Mark Level One!
Aaina Women’s Group (AWG), a charity based in South London, provides support, information and signposting for South Asian, Muslim, refugee women and their children.
Their services focus on welfare rights, housing, immigration, domestic violence, health, educational opportunities and training. AWG also provides personal development workshops, ESOL classes, Arabic classes, Mental Health workshops and art workshops.
The organisation has worked hard to improve the green credentials of the charity at its head office in Peckham Rye, promoting green living to their beneficiaries through seminars and advice, intertwined with support for healthy and active living.
The charity has always had a green ethos; all waste is recycled and waste prevention is prioritised.
Their green policy complements the overall support that they provide, with classes provided to beneficiaries on sowing and arts and crafts, all of which promote the reuse of materials and the sharing of knowledge.
Aaina Women’s Group have found Green Mark a useful tool to structure their environmental initiatives and it has enabled them to communicate this to a wider audience, including funders.
