At GreenMark, we’re passionate about helping organisations embed sustainability into their everyday operations. Outcomes First Group (OFG), a leading provider of education, has taken significant steps to make sustainability a core part of its culture and their journey is inspiring.
A consistent approach across all sites
Every OFG site follows a Central Sustainability Policy, ensuring a unified approach to environmental responsibility. This consistency means sustainability isn’t just a buzzword, it’s a shared commitment across the organisation.
Practical actions that make a difference
Schools like Ashley Park School are leading the way by improving staff awareness of energy-saving practices. From email reminders and visual prompts to appointing Energy Champions, these initiatives are supported by checklists, induction training, and progress monitoring, creating a culture of accountability and engagement.
Other sites, such as Belmont Primary School, have embraced OFG’s centralised work-from-home policy, reducing environmental impact through smarter working practices. Meanwhile, The Tower School and others ensure sustainable procurement by adhering to the Supplier Code of Conduct and Procurement Policy.
Engaging students and communities
Sustainability at OFG isn’t limited to operations, it’s woven into student experiences. For example:
The Greater Horseshoe School hosts an annual “Green Up” Day, where students plant herbs, fruit, and wildflowers across their sites.
Oakfield House School is exploring scouting groups focused on recycling, conservation, and tackling issues like pollution and coastal erosion.
Many sites participate in local environmental initiatives, such as litter picking, fostering community engagement.
Site-specific action plans
Every OFG site has a tailored action plan addressing energy reduction, waste management, and utility tracking, ensuring sustainability goals are practical and measurable.
Voices from the journey
The impact of GreenMark accreditation is best expressed by those who’ve experienced it:
It was an interesting and informative journey to achieving our GreenMark Level 1. I enjoyed finding out about protected parts of our school and local area. It’s reassuring to know we can make a small difference to the environment.
Patricia Dobbs – Belmont School
GreenMark has been a valuable way of exploring the environmental impact of our buildings and activities. The action plan encourages us to look into the future and improve our awareness—not just for ourselves, but for those around us.
Heather Copeland – Longdon Park School
Working with GreenMark represents an accolade for us and a structured approach to moving forward. Small steps will eventually lead to a bigger impact, and becoming accredited at Level 1 has been welcomed and celebrated at OFG HQ.
Luiza Dewison – Buzz Learning
Looking ahead
OFG’s commitment doesn’t stop at Level 1. Many sites are already preparing for Level 2 accreditation, continuing to work closely with GreenMark to embed sustainability deeper into their operations and education.
As educators, OFG understands that sustainability isn’t just about preaching, it’s about taking realistic steps that leave a lasting legacy. At GreenMark, we’re proud to support them on this journey.
